Fiore the Siberian kitten angel from London

Today we welcome Fiore the Siberian kitten from London, UK, and his Human Mom Mona May! Before I say anything else I have to say I am totally in love with this kitten! Check out his Instagram at @fiore.the.feline

What is the name of your Siberian kitty? Why did you choose that name?

My not-so-little Siberian kitten is named Fiore. As an artist, I am often captivated by certain features and I chose this name for him after his mesmerizing gaze reminded me of a character from the show ‘Preacher’ whose eyes I found just as striking.

The character in mind was an angel and it felt all the more fitting as Fiore’s ear tufts look like a set of angel wings!

How old is your kitty?

He is just about to turn six months.

Where are you and your kitty from 🙂 ?

Fiore and I live a little outside London in the UK.

How did you decide to have a Siberian cat and why?

I’ve lived with cat allergies since as long as I can remember and no matter how much I loved cats, the idea of having my own was never a real consideration. It was only after moving into a new place by myself that I began to toy with the idea, knowing the missing piece in the puzzle was precious animal companionship.

I knew a cat suited my current lifestyle best and after much research, I was elated to see hope in the form of the Siberian breed. To my surprise, after an allergy sitting, my allergies were virtually unresponsive. And obviously, I walked away completely enamored by the breed.

Beautiful Siberian kitty

What is your kitty’s favorite food? Any recommendations on food for
other Siberian cat owners?

He is on a diet of both wet and dry food. He is on Royal Canin for dry food which he is a big fan of and a grain free, high meat content wet food. He particularly seems to love anything with turkey!

What are your cat’s favorite toys or games?

As much as he enjoys chasing his laser and other cat toys, ultimately, his favorite has become no more than an empty Yakult bottle that he likes to dribble around the whole home – often at some forsaken hour of the morning too. Typical!

What does your Siberian love doing most?

He loves to follow me around like a little duckling and insists on getting completely comfortable for taking a nap on my lap – no matter how inconvenient his timing can be for us both!

And in the mornings, I wake up to some heavy purrs and two giant dish saucer eyeballs staring at me an inch from my face, waiting to be acknowledged before cheeping and curling up to sleep beside my head once more.

Is there a funny story you could tell us about your Siberian?

Something everyone finds amusing about him is on the few occasions that he does decide to make any sound, his mouth looks alarmingly like the pokemon called Vulpix with his little yowls.

The first couple nights of him moving in, he had a rough time adjusting and I would hear those lazy little ‘awoo’s even when he was seemingly asleep and sliding off his cat tree! Although rarely seen, even a little angel like him has a stubborn streak hidden in there!

Fiore again

What do you love most about your Siberian?

Fiore is a total love-bug that is continuously finding new ways to melt my heart. His quiet and gentle nature sees no end to charming everyone, but at the same time, he is also the silliest little bean I’ve ever met! He loves to be cradled like a baby and to sit around like a little human would with his legs dangling all over the place.

What are the good sides of having a Siberian cat?

I could go on and on but I think I feel the same as most Siberian owners in that it’s the balance of love and affection they can give without it being overbearing.

What are some downsides to having a Siberian cat?

I honestly struggle to find any. So far, he has been the complete perfect fit for me and hopefully, he feels the same!

Does your kitty shed much and how do you deal with it?

He sheds so little which always surprises me for a cat that’s growing fluffier and fluffier. It’s a big relief and I’m sure it’s aided by our routine grooming sessions throughout the week.

Do you travel with your cat? What do you do when you need to go on
vacation? (Pet sitter? Cat hotel? 🙂

I have not traveled with him but I have family that is prepared to kitten-sit him in future when a human adventure crops up.

Would you recommend other people to have a Siberian cat, why or why not?

As long as you have the time and energy (as should be expected for any indoor cat), I absolutely believe Siberians are a phenomenal companion to have.

They’re regal and adorable, athletic and graceful, intelligent and hilarious. You’ll find no shortage of laughter and love!
